Visitors and local residents are encouraged to stop by wearing their ugliest holiday attire and enjoy refreshments, special treats and register for prizes. Photos will be posted on the Visit Florence, AL Facebook page for voting on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for the tackiest sweater. Winners will be announced on the 21st! Prizes will vary from Gift Certificates to Attraction Passes.

During the event, local historians, Carolyn Barske Crawford and Brian Murphy will have a book signing beginning at 12 PM. During the presentation of their newly released book, “The Tennessee River and Northwest Alabama,” Crawford and Murphy will discuss their research process and highlight some of the images from the book.

Following the book signing, the Tennessee Valley Strummers will be playing folk dulcimer music in the Gallery on from 2 to 4 p.m. The dulcimer, which means “sweet sound,” is a four-stringed instrument developed in the 1700s in the southern Appalachian Mountains. The featured players use a tablature system of playing, based on fret numbers, which enables them to play with others – even if they have never met before.

Please join us for a day full of fun, prizes, food and tackiness!
