Ruby Jo Plunkett Heard Holcomb born November 2, 1927 passed away November 25, 2018 at the age of 91.
Services will be Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the McRae Chapel. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until funeral time at the funeral home.
She was born in Blount County, Alabama but lived most of her life in Marshall County, spending the last 60+ years in the same location.
Mrs. Holcomb obtained her high school diploma through the GED program and was graduated from Jacksonville State University with a B. S. degree. She accomplished this schooling in her late 30’s and she was a grandmother at the time.
She taught second grade at Susan Moore for more than 25 years before retiring.
Mrs. Holcomb is survived by her daughter: Linda Jo Heard Polk (Richard) of Boaz, Son: Jimmy Neal Heard (Donna) of Boaz, Sisters: Geraldene Plunkett Rigsby of Boaz and Virginia Plunkett Seay of Boaz, Granddaughters: Johnna Polk Morris and Tonya Heard Gillilan (Chad), Great Granddaughters: Sessaley Marie Baker and Tinzley Marie Giles Wilson (Kyle), Great Grandson: Jordan Morris (Mariya), Great Great Grandson: Stark Anthony Bennett and many nieces and nephews.
