Loyce Wayne Miles – Obituary

Loyce Wayne Miles, 94, died Saturday, November 24, 2018, at his home. He was born September 7, 1924, to Ellie and Ina Wallace Miles. Wayne entered the Army in April of 1944. He was in the 3rd Army, 80th Division, Company 1, known as Patton’s Army. He was issued a M-1 Rifle and assigned to the front line of fighting during World War II. Later after being captured, he was a POW for six months in Camp 4-B in Muhberg, Germany. He was liberated by the Russians in April 1945 and sent to Lahave, France. He was transferred to Camp Shelby, MS. and while at home on a 60 day furlough, he married his sweetheart, Adene Cauthern. After his furlough, he was admitted to the hospital in Camp Stoneman, CA. He was awarded a Bronze Star and discharged on October 25, 1945.

Wayne worked at Otis Moore Chevrolet for many years. He was a Lifelong cattle farmer, which was his true passion. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Ex-Pow, DAV, and VFW. He was a long time member of Trinity Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to cattle sales and traveling, and he was a regular at Fulton Grain Co.

Services will be at 11:00 a. m. Monday, November 26, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. David Haynes officiating. Burial, with full military rites, will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Adene Cauthern Miles; one son, Donald Wayne Miles (Carolyn), both of Fulton; one granddaughter, Allison Greer (Dr. Tim); one great grandson, Hunter Greer; one great granddaughter, Sophia Grace Greer, all of Murfreesboro, TN.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jewel Slack and Pauline Reeves; an infant brother; and his parents.

Pallbearers will be Larry Homan, Johnny Crane, Jessie Emerson, Terry Emerson, Boyce McNeece, Larry Pate, and Larry Brown.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Tim Greer and Hunter Greer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund.

Visitation will be from 5:00 -8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home.
