Bobby Whitt – Obituary

Bobby Whitt Bobby Whitt, 94 of Ardmore, passed away Friday peacefully at his home. Born July 27, 1924, he was the son of the late John D. & Tula F. Whitt. He was married to the late Joyce Birdsong Whitt for 62 years.

He is survived by twin daughters Brenda W. McDaniel (Ray, deceased) and Linda W. Steakley (Rod) and preceded in death by son John Mark Whitt.

He served in the U.S. Merchant Marines from 1945 to 1949, traveling all over the world. He worked for 14 years at Thiokol as a Chemical Engineer and 24 years at Rockwell International/ Boeing as safety director. He was a Member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where he taught teenage boys in Sunday school, Chairman/Trustee Gatlin Cemetery, Board of Directors Elkwood Village and various other philanthropic organizations.

He was preceded in death by his brother James Whitt, and sister Rebecca Sandlin and Helen Renfroe.
He is survived by brother George Whitt and sister Mary Rousseau, four grandchildren: Sonja (Matt) McCuen, Ashleigh Green, John (Heidi) Steakley, and David (Jeanna) Steakley and seven great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, AL, at 2:00 PM with Dr. Ray Stonecypher officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
