Pearline Dixon Methvin – Obituary

Pearline Dixon Methvin has completed her journey here on Earth and is now in Gods Hands and forever in our hearts.  She was 98 years old.

  Visitation will be held at Elkins Funeral Home in Florence, AL on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Bro. Joe Van Dyke officiating.  A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Greenwood Methodist Church Cemetery in the Deerfield Community 10 miles west of Lawrenceburg, TN at 12:00 noon with Bro Jimmy Hayes officiating.

Pearline is survived by her son, Rodney W. Methvin and wife Brenda; granddaughter, Britton Lynne “Sister” Methvin Bevis; grandson, Rodney W. Methvin, Jr. “Roddy” and wife Rebekah; great grandsons, Benjamin Bevis, Web Bevis, Tate Methvin, Jon Walt Methvin, Sam Methvin; great great-grandson, Luke Ryan Bevis and his mommy, Laken McGuire, all of Florence; sisters, Jean Bowen and husband Bill, of Florence, Patty Benson of Lawrenceburg; sister-in-law, Ruth Dixon of Lawrenceburg in the Deerfield Community; Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

  She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Cecil C “Buck” Methvin; parents, Paul and Mae Dixon; brother, Grady Dixon; brother-in-law, Bobby Benson; brother-in-law, Dr. Duel Methvin and wife Blanch of Knoxville; brother-in-law, Dr Dwight Methvin and wife Estelle; great-grandson, Mills Thomas Methvin.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  Her positive thoughts about responsibility, honesty, moral obligation and family will continue to live in all who knew her.

She enjoyed gardening and was a outstanding member of the Better Garden Club, also a member of the 20th century Book Club,  She loved bird watching, traveling, fishing, and watching Braves Baseball.  Most of all spending Time with her family.

She was a member of Highland Baptist Church where she was baptized in 1954, she enjoyed Highlands TV Ministry and Glenn Harper and others visiting and bringing the Lords Supper to her.

Embracing a future without Pearline is heart-breaking but her family will honor her by trying to live as she did.

Pallbearers will be grandson, Roddy Methvin; great-grandsons, Ben Bevis, Web Bevis, Tate Methvin, Jon Walt Methvin; nephews, Bob Benson, Brent Benson, Bill Dixon, Johnny Dixon and Greg Myhan.

A very special than you to her caregivers, Cindy, Susan, Elizabeth, Tamera, Bay and Toccara and the ECM 6th floor staff.
