D.M. “Buddy” Segars

Dudley Meredith Segars, 86, died November 8, 2018 at North Mississippi Medical Center.  On June 9, 1932, he was born to James E. and Ella Mallette Segars. Buddy was a hard worker who began his career at an early age as a salesman with Warner Lambert Company. He was the manager at MidSouth Packers Mill and Feed Lot before working at Jim Walter’s Homes for many years. Buddy built a successful business of his own in the construction industry where he retired as an independent contractor.  Buddy loved being outdoors, spending time on his small farm, and caring for his livestock. In December of 1950, he married the former Frances Gardner; together they had three children. He was a former member of Springhill Presbyterian Church and current member of Gumtree Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his children, David Segars of Saltillo, Mike Segars of Pickwick, Tennessee and Suzette Potts and her husband, Roger, of Saltillo; 11 grandchildren, Sarah Crouch (Michael), Shea Harmon (Kelly), Suzanne Bingham (Ben), Adam Potts (Kayla), Lindsay Duffie (Matthew), Katie Knight (Sam), Emily Turner (Daniel), Dianna Rowsey (Barrett), John Michael Segars, Leah Beth Letson (Bryan), and Christopher Potts and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Frances Segars; parents, James E. Segars and Ella Mallete Segars; five sisters; one brother; and daughter-in-law, Julia Segars.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Sunday, November 11, 2018 at W.E. Pegues, Saltillo.

Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, November 11, 2018 at the Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Charles Covington officiating. Graveside services will follow in Springhill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Crouch, Kelly Harmon, Ben Bingham, Matthew Duffie, Sam Knight, Daniel Turner, Brian Letson and Barrett Rousey.
