Bernard Moore “Barney” Davis, 87, of Huntsville died peacefully Tuesday, November 6, at Redstone Village.  He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Telse Platt Davis; sister, Edith Ann Barber; son, Bill; daughter, Jean; stepchildren, James Platt and Kirsten Duffy (Jerry); step-grandchildren, Laura and Brian Duffy; step-great-grandson, Will Hollon; and many nephews and nieces.  He was preceded in death by his first spouse, Ann King Davis; parents, Lonnie Davis and Edith Davis Posey; and sister, Mary Grace Morris.

Barney graduated from Coffee High School in Florence.  After serving in the Navy during the Korean War, he attained a Bachelor’s of Electrical Engineering Degree at Auburn University.  He married Ann King in 1957, and began his career and family.  Barney proudly worked for the U.S. Army on many missile systems, including the Strategic Defense Initiative.  Following his retirement from the government, Barney worked as a consultant for several firms.

Following the death of Ann in 1996, Barney had the good fortune of marrying Telse, and she provided him with extraordinary care and support until his death.

Barney enjoyed many hobbies, especially traveling and gardening.  However, his consuming passion was for golf.  He was a founding member of Valley Hill Country Club, where he was an avid member for over fifty years. He served as both a board member and president of the board.

A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17th, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of North Alabama or to the William Lonnie Davis Endowed Scholarship at the University North Alabama.
