Marvin Lee Roberts, 89, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning.
He was born to Chall and Lue Anne Roberts in Red Bay, Alabama. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters with his beloved sister, Rea Roberts Finn, surviving.
He graduated from Corinth High School and was proud to be the team captain of the basketball team and the first baseman of the state championship baseball team. His love of sports continued throughout his lifetime. He served in the Army reserves for 6 years. He moved to St. Louis where he met his wife of 64 years, Rosemary S. Roberts. He worked as a pharmaceutical representative for 30 years and moved to Huntsville from Nashville, TN in 1969. He achieved his company’s coveted President’s Club Award many years. He was an avid world traveler and greatly loved and enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The highlight of his day was joining the Back Table at Gibson’s Bar-B-Que every morning that he was able. The family wishes to offer heartfelt thanks for all the special attention they gave him over the years. He was a member of St. Thomas Church, a Mason and Shriner, and was a friend of Bill for 37 years. He will be remembered as a good man who was smart, generous, never met a stranger, and was the embodiment of perseverance.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 7th from 1 to 2 PM with service following at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 12200 Bailey Cove Road in Huntsville. Rev. Paul Pradat will officiate. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of North Alabama (Hospice Foundation), the medical mission of St. Thomas Church or a charity of your choice.
