James Ray Thrasher – Obituary

James Ray Thrasher, 77 years old, of Town Creek passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his residence. Visitation will be from 12:00 till 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Lawrence Funeral Home with Greg Standridge, Brent Gillespie, and Paxton Staehling officiating. Burial will be at Providence Cemetery.

Mr. Thrasher was a good Christian Man and was retired after 30 years as Night Superintendent from BP/Amoco. He was good hearted, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and always put everyone else first. He believed in hard work and loved the Lord. Mr. Thrasher wanted all his children to serve God. He loved animals, gardening, fishing and Alabama Football.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Wanda Mardis Thrasher, four children: Lisa Thrasher, Tina Davis(Duane), Stacy Thrasher(Pam) and Adrienne Staehling(Steven), six siblings: Barbara Hawkins, Louise Cole, Wanise Vest, Doris Faye Nichols,(Rays Twin) Dewey Thrasher and Linda Latham, nine grandchildren: Brandon Myers, Eriel Bowyer, Stormie Perea, Paxton Staehling, Ethan Thrasher, Elizabeth Staehling, Nathan Thrasher, and Mia Staehling, four great grandchildren: Rayleigh Myers, Brody Tyra, Dalton Tyra, and Crimson Myers.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Bessie Wright Thrasher, his father: William Thrasher”Bill”, and his brother: Billy Thrasher.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Myers, Paxton Staehling, Lowell Mote, Ethan Thrasher, Nathan Thrasher, Jonah Bowyer, and Bryan Perea.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Robert Hall, Southern Care New Beacon, and all friends and family that showed love to Ray and all his family during his illness and this time of need.
