TUSCUMBIA-While it has been a close race, incumbent Senator Larry Stutts’ recent endorsement from Congressman Robert Aderholt is one of many advantages that set him apart as the clear choice for Senate District Six. Congressman Aderholt publicly endorsed Stutts in his re-election bid against his Democratic opponent, Johnny Mack Morrow, at a campaign rally on Thursday Nov. 1 in Russellville.

“I’m honored to be here today with Dr. Larry Stutts and lend my support for his re-election. He is someone who’s stood by the same principles we talk about–jobs, values, and family. Look at the legislation he’s voted on and it shows he’s stood for Alabama values the last four years,” Congressman Aderholt said.

Aderholt pointed out the importance of having a Republican in office in Montgomery so that District Six maintains their voice with the majority party. Republicans are expected to keep the majority in Tuesday’s general election.

Congressman Aderholt added, “As a Republican, Dr. Stutts is in a lot better position to effectively serve the people of District Six. We’re on the same team and I know where he stands on these key issues. This is not a personality contest. It’s about electing the person who will do the most for their Senate district. Larry Stutts can do that and I’m glad to support him.”

Stutts touched on several important issues at the rally including his support of public education. While Morrow has been vocal about public education this campaign cycle, Stutts pointed out Republican success concerning education.

“This past session we passed the largest appropriation for education of state tax dollars that’s ever been passed. And it’s the second largest budget for education that’s ever been passed,” Stutts said.

Stutts continued, “When people say I’m against public schools, that’s absolutely false. We’ve had eight consecutive years without proration in the education budget since Republicans gained control of the Alabama legislature. That’s responsible budgeting for education for eight straight years.”

Stutts also addressed his support of small business. “Local small business (those with 50 or fewer employees) produce the majority of jobs in any community,” Stutts said. He told supporters his commitment for continued support for small business. Stutts has a 100% voting record with the NFIB (National Federation of Independent Business) and the Alabama Retail Association and their endorsement for reelection.

Sutts thanked Aderholt for his support and wished him success in his bid for a 12th consecutive term in Washington. Aderholt faces Democrat Lee Auman in Tuesday’s general election.
