William Palmer Baldwin – Obituary

William Palmer Baldwin, 88, of Huntsville, Alabama went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 1, 2018, surrounded by his devoted family. Bill was born on April 26, 1930, in El Dorado, Arkansas to Flossie Belle Palmer and Moses Shofner Baldwin, Sr. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Moses Shofner Baldwin, Jr. and his sister, Francis Marian Humphrys. Bill is survived by his caring and loving wife of 66 years, Betty Jean Baldwin; brother, Joe Howard Baldwin; son, William Richard Baldwin; daughter, Carol Baldwin Butterworth (and Chris); son, David Alan Baldwin; nine grandchildren and spouses; and four great-granddaughters. A man of God, Bill was a faithful member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church. In 1949-1953, he served our country in the United States Navy in the Aleutian Islands during the Korean Conflict. Following his service, he graduated from Auburn University (Alabama Polytechnic Institute) with Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He went on to work for NASA in the test division on the Redstone Arsenal for 28 years. Visitation for Bill Baldwin will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, from 12 to 1:30 pm. His funeral service will follow at 1:30 pm with a private burial in Huntsville Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill’s name to the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church building fund and/or Clearview Cancer Institute.
