David “D.A” Arnold Russell – Obituary

 D.A. RussellDavid “D.A” Arnold Russell, 87, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday October 30, 2018. He was born September 17, 1931 in Decatur. D.A. was retired from the State of Alabama DOT with 46 years of service. He served 60 years as a baseball/softball umpire. He was enshrined in the Alabama High School Officials Hall of Fame. He also operated the scoreboard for West Morgan football and basketball teams. D.A. was a great mentor for boys and girls of the West Morgan area. He loved to worked on his farm where he enjoyed cutting and bailing hay. D.A. was an avid hunter and Alabama Football fan.

He is survived by his son Davie Randall Russell, as well as several other family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alda Nell Long Russell.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 4, 2018 from noon to 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Celebration of Life service will be Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel. He will be laid to rest in Roselawn Cemetery. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfhandcemetery.com for the Russell family.
