Clifford L. “Simon” Eastep – Obituary

Mr. Clifford L. “Simon” Eastep, age 84, a resident of Southgate, Michigan, previously of the Santa Fe community, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in Taylor, Michigan.

 

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 3PM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army. A visitation will also be held on Sunday from 12-3PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Born on May 19, 1934 in Pulaski, Clifford was the son of the late Nick Wallace Eastep and the late Lellar Kiddy Eastep. He served his country in the United States Army. On March 26, 1960 he and Katie Mae Hill eloped in Alabama. Clifford worked over thirty years for Chrysler before retiring in 1999. He was a member of Riverview Church of Christ in Michigan and often visited West 7thChurch of Christ in Columbia and Hilltown Church of Christ in Santa Fe. He was dedicated to his religious beliefs, passing out church literature to the public every Saturday. A passion for ministering to others, Clifford sometimes served as a fill in pastor. Some of his hobbies included working on watches and fishing.

 

He is survived by his children: Cynthia (John) Bates, Ray (Debbie) Eastep, Mark Eastep; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother-in-law: John Hill; sister-in-law: Carolyn Baucom; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Katie Mae Hill Eastep on November 16, 2017; and sister: Mildred Eastep.
