Mrs. Melba Jean Cox Adams Melba Jean Cox Adams, age 82, of Huntsville died on October 30, 2018 at
home. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughter and son.
Mrs. Adams was born on February 28, 1936 in Cullman County, AL the Daughter of Willie Gus Cox and Lettie Jane Allen Cox. In 1956 she married John Neal Adams and was married 42 years before he passed away on May 14, 1998. Mr. Adams’ career with Coca-Cola led their family to many transfers. They lived in Birmingham, Atlanta, Houston, Ft. Lauderdale and retired in Alexander City, AL. After the passing of Mr. Adams, Mrs. Adams moved back to her hometown of Arab, Alabama. She was a homemaker which was a title she dearly loved because she loved working in her yard, cooking, but most of all taking care of her family and always making her house a home. She loved being with family and friends and always made anyone she met feel like family. She never met a stranger. She loved to travel and had been to all but six of the United States.
Melba was a member of Arab First United Methodist Church and the Arab Garden Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Terry Ann Adams Bennett of Huntsville; son, John Michael Adams of Canton, GA; one grandson, Michael Hunter Adams of Farmington, CT; and one sister Becky May of Huntsville. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Neal Adams; her parents Willie Gus and Lettie Jane Cox; infant brother, Douglas Cox; two sisters, Dorothy King and Barbara King.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday November 4, 2018 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Bro. Randy Evers & Bro. Mike Shirley, officiating. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will include; Michael Hunter Adams, Barry Newton, Ronald Newton, Billy Bost, Brad King, Cliff Mitchell, Trevor Mitchell & Clay Mitchell.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Sunday November 4, 2018 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
