John Joseph Slesinski Jr.

John Joseph Slesinski, Jr., age 78, of Decatur, Alabama passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 after a nine-year battle with cancer. John was born May 20, 1940 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Visitation for John will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 from noon to 1 p.m. at Grant Street Church of Christ, 240 Grant St. SE, Decatur. John will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 34 years, Diane; his son, Bob (Barbara); his son, Richard and his son, Lance (Deanna). John will also be fondly remembered by his 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and by his sister, Janice Harper (Richard). John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anne Slesinski and his grandson, Nathan.
A native of New England, John graduated Milford High School in Connecticut in 1958 before serving in the Army National Guard till 1963. John had a distinguished career with General Electric. Since his retirement in 2002, John remained an active member of the volunteer police department. John was a member of the Grant Street Church of Christ. He was known for his infectious smile and easy-going personality. John was faithful to his family, to his friends and trusted God to handle all his problems. Memorial gifts may be made to Grant Street Church of Christ or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
