Max Roger Knight – Obituary

Max Roger Knight, 82, passed away Wednesday, October 25, 2018 at his granddaughter’s home in Pontotoc.  He was born May 11, 1936, the son of Ollie and Effie Jane Daves Knight.   Max lived most of his adult life in Tupelo and spent the last few years living in Amory where he was born.  He was a plumber and longtime member of the R.E. Lee Masonic Lodge 156.  He was also a member of West Heights Baptist Church in Pontotoc and served in the National Guard.  Max enjoyed fishing hunting and time with family and friends.  He loved his family dearly and their love for him was shown by the way they all took care of him in his final days on earth, especially his granddaughter, Kayla.

Services will be 11 AM Saturday at the Lee Memorial Chapel with Dr. David Hamilton and Dr. Jim Futral officiating.  Burial with Masonic rites will follow in Lee Memorial Park.  Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Max leaves behind his daughter, Jan Christian of Amory; 2 sisters, Juanita Tubb (Joe) of Espanola, NM and Dot Forbus (Bob) of Amory; 2 grandchildren, Kayla Walker (Jason) and Roger Christian (Jeanie); 4 great-grandchildren, Dakota Walker, Jaycie Walker, Hannah Christian, and Cannon Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Peggy Knight; and 3 brothers, Ralph, Hurbert, and Herbert Knight.

Pall bearers will be Glenn McCarver, Dwight Christian, Johnny Conrad, Carey Simmons, Danny Sanders, Van Miles, Matt Burchfield, and Matt Wheeler.  The Members of R.E. Lee Masonic Lodge 156 and Mr. Billy Miles will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.  The family would like to thank Homecare Hospice of New Albany for the dedicated care they provided.
