Mr. Fred Ernest Montgomery, 89, of Old Hickory, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Arrangements will be announced at a later date.
He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on March 15, 1929 to Walter Terry and Allie Lee Hendricks Montgomery. He was an Ensley High School and Howard University graduate. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and retired after 46 years of service with U.S. Steel. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at Bush Hills Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as three siblings, Annie Jeanette “Sister” Mercer, Walter Lee “Buddy” Montgomery and Edna Earle Russell; his wife, Jeanette Evelyn Calvert Montgomery and son, Fred Ernest “Freddy” Montgomery Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Carol Morse Montgomery; granddaughter, Ashley Paige Montgomery and fiancee, James Baggett; stepson, Jimmy and wife, Terresa Raines and grandson, Colby.
