Florence Police Arrest Suspect In Connection With Weekend Stabbing

FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department released a statement concerning a stabbing that took place in Florence over the weekend on Saturday, October 20:

“Over the weekend, 10/20/2018, Florence Police responded to a stabbing at 514 N Crown St. When officers arrived, they found the victim, Michael Montgomery, outside with a stab wound. Mr. Montgomery stated that he was at this residence visiting the person that lives there. While talking with her Mr. Holden pulled up and started a fight with the victim. During the fight, Mr. Montgomery was stabbed in the chest area. Mr. Montgomery along with a witness stated that Mr. Holden was the offender. Mr. Holden was not at the residence when we arrived. Mr. Holden and Mr. Montgomery did know each other but were not friends or related.

When EMS and Florence Fire arrived, they provided medical aid and then transported him to Air Evac to be transported to Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Montgomery is currently still in the hospital in stable condition.

On 10/23/2018 US Marshalls along with Florence PD was able to locate William A. Holden, 51 and arrest him for Assault 1st. Mr. Holden is currently in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $50,000.00 bond.”
