Babyzean Hodum – Obituary

Babyzean Hodum, 82, resident of the Tiplersville Community and lifelong Tippah Countian, passed away Friday October 19, 2018 at the North Mississippi Medical Center at Iuka following an illness of several months.
Funeral Services remembering the life of Ms. Hodum will be at 2 PM Saturday October 20 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with long time friend, Bro. Doc Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery near Ripley.
Born October 24, 1935 in Tippah County, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Minnie May Mathis Hodum and received her education at the Lone Pine School that was located in the Shiloh Community near Ripley.
A Christian and a Methodist, Ms. Hodum will be remembered for her independence and known as an avid conversationalist. For much of her life she enjoyed working in area retail and lodging businesses.
Ms. Hodum enjoyed outdoor activities and cooking for her friends and family.
Visitation for Ms. Hodum will be today from 12 noon until 2 PM at The Ripley Funeral Home.
Those left to treasure her memory include her daughter, Hope Box (Ronnie Crabb) of Corinth, sister in law , Margaret Hodum of Walnut and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Overa Hodum and Olene Meeks, three brothers, Joe Lee, Virgil and J.W. Hodum, a set of triplet siblings who passed away in infancy, her loyal pet canines, “Trouble” and “Rich” and her special friend, Roy Basden who passed away April 29, 2018.
The family request that memorials be directed to Shiloh Cemetery Fund, 2981 CR 253, Walnut, MS 38683.
Pallbearers will include Timmy Meeks, Joey Plaxico, Jimmy Waldon and Randy Waldon.
