Albert Zolon Clayton Jr. of Selmer, TNAlbert Zolon Clayton, Jr. was born July 29, 1940 in Paris, TN the son of the late Rev. Albert Zolon, Sr. and Rubene Ball Clayton.

Zolon graduated in 1959 from Millington High School in Millington, TN. He was a 1964 graduate of Lambuth College in Jackson, TN.

Zolon was employed 31 years with the McNairy County School System as a teacher and coach for Selmer High School and Selmer Middle School.

In addition to being an educator Zolon was a United Methodist minister from 1962 to 2009, serving numerous churches in McNairy, Chester, and Hardin Counties. He was an humble servant of God and loved the small country churches.

Zolon was a people person. He loved his family and all the people in the congregations he served. During his teaching career Zolon enjoyed his students and coaching football. He was an enthusiastic fan of all sports.

In addition to his parents, Zolon was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Ann Clayton and Linda (Clayton) Walls.

Zolon departed this life on October 16, 2018 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 78 Years, 2 Months, 17 Days. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Faye (Coats) Clayton of Selmer, TN; a son, Chad Clayton and wife Christie of Milan, TN; a daughter, Samantha Rainey and husband Terry of Adamsville, TN; four grandchildren: Wesley Rainey, Karenna Rainey, Jonathan Clayton, and Kristin Clayton; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to Stantonville United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
