Vida Mae Morrow Yother – Obituary

 The family of Vida Mae Morrow Yother, 73, announces her promotion from this temporal life into the permanent dwelling of Heaven on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Grandview Medical Center, Birmingham.

A native of the Union Grove Church community, Vida Mae was born March 3, 1945 and was married September 10, 1966 to Max Yother with whom she lived 48 years in the Aroney community.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Dovie Newman, an infant sister, Linda Sue Newman, and a brother, Terry Newman.

She is survived by two brothers, Nolan “Tinker” (Pat) Newman and Herbert “Hubby” Newman; nieces and families, Joanna (Jeff) Patterson, MaKenna and Gracie Freeman, Madison, Bray and Maddox Patterson;  Carla Williams, Zach Hiett; Sumer (Derek) Smith, Rylan and Olivia Smith;  Roxanne (David) Cofield, Keith and Kevin (Brooke) Cofield; nephews and families, Nolan Newman, Jr., T.J., Anna Beth and Trey Newman; Drexel (Kathy) Kilpatrick, Billie Childers and Brea Kilpatrick; Chosen Nephew and Niece George and Tracey Walker, Elijah Max and Gracie Mae Walker, and special friend, Peggy Bearden.

She was a loyal and active member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she has taught Sunday School, worked with youth and WMU.  She had such a servant heart as she is most well known for her cakes and candies which most of the community has enjoyed through the years.  She worked for over 35 years in auto-detailing with her husband, Max.

The celebration service will be Thursday, October 18 at 2:00 p.m. at McRae Funeral Home, Boaz with David O. Cofield and Max Roden, officiating.  Music will be by Ali Walker and through recordings of Jimmy Wofford.  Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery with her Pastor, Justin Joiner, officiating.   Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Keith Cofield, Kevin Cofield, Garret Gray, T.J. Newman, Eli Walker and Tyler Williams.  Honorary pallbearers will be Nolan Newman, Jr., Bray Patterson, Jeff Patterson, Maddox Patterson, Derek Smith and Rylan Smith.

The family requests no flowers but memorials to be donated to The Unlimited Potential Place, 627 East Main Street, Albertville, AL 35950.
