Doris Free Steadham, 98, of Lacey’s Spring, the Union Hill Community of Morgan County, passed away Saturday October 13, 2018 at her residence.
Mrs. Steadham was born January 5, 1920 in Morgan County to John W. Free and Maude Whisenant Free. She was a homemaker; her husband William R. “Bill” Steadham preceded her in death February 14, 1968. She enjoyed gardening and canning. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She dearly loved her Church family.
She was a member of Morgan City Church of God.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law: William J. “Billy” Steadham and Sandra and Robert Steadham; her daughters and son-in-law: Helen Pendergraft, Marie Tanner, Bobbie Jo Ary and James; twenty grandchildren, fifty four great grandchildren and twenty two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: William R. “Bill” Steadham; her son: Herman Steadham and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday October 17, 2018 at Morgan City Church of God with Brother: Roland Cornwell, officiating. Burial will be in Rescue Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Marty Dudley, Carl Steadham, Ray Steadham, Joseph Ary, Darren Steadham, Randy Bryan, Charles Ary and James L. Ary.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday October 16, 2018 at Morgan City Church of God.
