Barbara Ann McCartyBarbara Ann McCarty, 71, died Sunday, October 14, 2018, at her home. She was born September 16, 1947, to Moman and Thelma Johnson Wheeler. She was a member of Cedar Grove Pentecostal Church. She worked as a nurse’s aide and as a school teacher at Tupelo Children’s Mansion. She loved gospel music and her cat, Precious, and enjoyed attending church, shopping, and spending time with her children. She was a wonderful mother who loved her family unconditionally.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 18, at the Cedar Grove Pentecostal Church with Bishop Danny Robbins and the Rev. Terry Lee officiating. Burial will be in the Fawn Grove Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband, Billy McCarty; two daughters, Christy Wilkins (David) and Diane Msyah, all of Mantachie; two brothers, Moman Wheeler of Florence, Ala., and Wayne Wheeler of Tennessee; four grandchildren, Brookelynn McCarty, Tyler Witcher, Corey McCarty, and Sophia Msyah; 11 nieces, Tammy Bruce, Leslie Pinson, Anslea Pinson, Tina Lambert, Julie Navarro, Rebecca Brewer, Carin Sowers, Lisa Chapman, Lori Hernandez, Linda Black, and Wendy Grissom; 6 nephews, Anthony Pinson, Lee Wheeler, Jeremy Wheeler, Mark Bruce, Ashton Bruce, and Kayson Chism; and a special friend, Don Palmer.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jason McCarty; her parents; one brother, Wendell Wheeler; one sister, Dean Brewer; and her mother-in-law, Mattie Palmer.

Pallbearers will be David Wilkins, Kayson Chism, Corey McCarty, Michael Stegall, Kyle Davis, and Roger Wood.

Visitation will be from noon until service time Thursday at Cedar Grove Pentecostal Church
