David M. "Jack" Craig David M. “Jack” Craig, 86, life-long farmer and retired employee of Columbia Power and Water System, died Sunday, October 14, 2018 at his residence on B. Kerr Road.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Judge Bobby Sands and Hueston Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Mount Cemetery with military honors provided the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19. The family will visit with friends Monday from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. concluding with a Masonic Service at the funeral home.

Born November 30, 1931 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Floyd Thomas Craig and the late Bessie Hight Craig. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Craig was an active member of the American Legion Post 19, where he served as a past Commander, and was a 50-year mason with Pleasant Grove Lodge No. 138. He was a former Chairman for the Maury County Commission, former Magistrate, and former member of Farm Bureau. An avid horseman and livestock trader, Mr. Craig was active with Mule Day, and enjoyed working with mules. He was a member of Scribner’s Mill Church of Christ.

Survivors include his sons, David Craig of Columbia; Dale Craig of Culleoka; grandchildren, Will Craig; Chelsea Craig; Jake Craig; step-daughters, Nancy (Charles) Osborne; Judy (Jimmy) Mathis both of Culleoka; step-grandchildren, Robert Osborne; Rachel (Scott) Luna; Jimbo Mathis; and seven great grandchildren

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wives, Dot Parks Craig who died August 10, 1978; and Mildred Davidson Craig who died August 16, 2011; brothers, Gene Craig; Goodman Craig; sister, Rachel Craig Thrasher.

Active pallbearers will be Lane Thrasher, Dennis Thrasher, Jim Thrasher, Jeff Parks, Will Craig, Jake Craig, Bill Thrasher, and Darrell Thrasher. Honorary pallbearers include Alton Walker, Charles Martin, D. C. Uzzell, past employees of Columbia Power and Water System, and members of the American Legion Post 19.

The family would like to express a special thanks to long-time friend, Wilma Dugger, caregivers, Ann Owens, Sherry Haskins, and Tiffany Pugh, and Hospice Compassus for their friendship and care.
