Janis Edman – Obituary

Janis Edman Janis Edman, age 70, resident of Mt. Juliet, passed away on Thursday, October 11, at Alive Hospice in Nashville following a sudden illness.

Janis was born October 18, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Duane Butler and Betty Curtiss Butler. She was the wife of Richard Edman, who preceded her in death in January of 2017. Janis spent 20 years with the United States Postal Service as a postal carrier. She, along with her husband, had a lifelong love of antiquing. Times spent with her family were the best times of her life. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles, often two at a time. Baking and travel were favorite pastimes.

Janis is survived by her sons, Matthew (April) Edman and Nathaniel Edman, both of Nashville, and Bob (Lisa) Oros of Lexington, MA; one granddaughter, who was the delight of her life, Lauren Edman of Nashville; two brothers, Scott (Chris) Butler of Franklin and Christopher Butler of Auburn, IN and one sister, Deb (Mark) Wilkewitz of Smyrna.

A service for inurnment at the Middle Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery in Pegram will be announced later.
