Virginia Caver Camp – Obituary

Virginia Caver Camp of Greenwood, Mississippi died Thursday October 11, 2018 at her home.  She was 94.

Mrs. Camp was born October 12, 1923 in Randolph County, Alabama to Royce and Audrey Caver.  She attended Flint Ridge School and graduated from Randolph County High School in Wedowee, Alabama.

Mrs. Camp was a full time wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother.  She served in numerous organizations and committees in the communities in which she lived, especially those connected with her church and schools which her sons attended.  She was also a founding member of the Longleaf Garden Club in Decatur, Alabama.

Mrs. Camp was preceded in death by her husband Clarence and son Phil.  She is survived by two sisters Lavelle Finlayson and Charlotte Cobb, son David Camp, daughter in law Allyn Camp, grandchildren Ashely, Brian, Caver, Haynes, Larkin, Penn and five great grandchildren.

The family would especially like to thank her dedicated personal caregivers Lillie Swims, Louise McClendon, and LaTeisha Farmer who tirelessly attended to her needs and gave her great comfort and personal friendship in her final months.   Also the family would like to express their appreciation to the employees of Sunflower Home Health, especially Jessica Araby, who went above and beyond their duties to enhance not only her quality of life but her spirit.

The family will receive visitors in Greenwood at the home of David and Allyn from 4:00 to 6:00 Friday afternoon.  There will be a graveside service in Decatur, Alabama at Burningtree Memorial Garden at 1:00 Sunday afternoon.  The family will receive guests at the cemetery beginning at noon as well as after the service.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.
