Inez Glisson SmithInez Glisson Smith, 84, died Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at The King’s Daughters and Sons Home. Smith was a native of Crockett County, Tennessee, but had lived more than 40 years in Northeast Mississippi before spending her final years in Bartlett.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie, MS. The family will receive visitors in a celebration of her life from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Dorsey Memorial Cemetery.

“Miss Inez”, reared in Lauderdale County, Tennessee, spent her adult life faithfully serving her extended family and as a “preacher’s wife” to her predeceased husband, Dave Smith. Her work took her throughout the United States as the Smith family served Southern Baptist churches in Tennessee, Michigan and throughout Northeast Mississippi, including Alcorn, Tishomingo, Prentiss, Lee and Calhoun counties.
She was proud of her work regarding her family, her flowers, her collection of family memorabilia and mission causes supported by Mississippi and Southern Baptists. She had an extended family of church members, friends and family throughout the United States and was well-known for her kindness and concern through letters, cards and phone calls.

She was an active member of Morning View Baptist Church in the Dorsey/Fawn Grove community and was proud to live independently before declining health confined her to the nursing home. After a lifetime of devoted love and service to her family, she died peacefully of natural causes, surrounded by her adult children.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Chris) Burrows of the Dorsey community in Itawamba County; her son, David (Jan) Smith of Bartlett, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Eric Smith, Andi (Quentin) Alexander, Whitney (Justin) Collums, Landon McDonald, Taylor Burrows, Matthew Burrows; three great-grandchildren, Stella Collums, Esme Smith and Hudson Alexander.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Rev. Dave Smith; her parents, Yancy and Ola Bell Glisson of Lauderdale County, Tennessee; one sister, Margaret Elizabeth Glisson Hall of Lauderdale County, Tennessee; one grandchild, Lauren Williams Smith and great-grandchild, Knox Carter Smith.
