James Clayton Pace – Obituary

 James Clayton Pace, 72 years old, of Town Creek passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018 at his residence. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM till 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Lawrence Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Wood officiating. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Garden.

Mr. Pace was retired from International Paper after 26 years and served in the US Army as a Staff Sergeant from 1968 till 1976 during the Vietnam War. He received numerous medals: National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea) and Army Commendation Medal. Mr. Pace was a Freewill Baptist and graduated from Hatton High School. He loved farming, spending time and playing with his grandchildren, watching westerns on tv, fishing and going to the gas station in his red Chevy.

Survivors include his wife: Soonthorn Parapan Pace, two children: Jessica Smith (Louie) and Randy Pace (Lori), six grandchildren: Courtney Rutherford, Molly Rutherford, Clay Pace, Wesley Rutherford, Julia Pace and Jordan Jones (Daniel), four great grandchildren: Abrielle Rutherford, Addy Hollis, Isaac Jones and Sutton Jones, two sisters: Ella Maye Little and Betty Jane Bradford (Hudson) and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Lassie Pace and his siblings: Junior Pace, Jimmy Pace, and Sadie Vess.

Pallbearers will be Greg Bradford, Jeff Pace, Rene Pace, Stephen Pace, David Pace, Tom Pace, Joe Johnson and Randy Townsend.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Arciniegas, Dr. Hartley, Huntsville Hospital staff (especially CCICU nursing staff, Jason and Meagan), Southern Care New Beacon Hospice Services (especially Tom, Jennifer, Misty, Missy, Stephanie and Brittany), Kindred Hospice Services, and Congestive Heart Failure Clinic.
