John R. Kent, Sr., 72, of Iuka, MS, died Wednesday, October 3, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. John was a member of Trinity Baptist Church where he was a deacon. He enjoyed holding court with his friends at Sweeney’s Auto Parts aka “The Pentagon”. His favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and traveling. A graveside service is scheduled for 2pm, Sunday, October 7, 2018, at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church, officiated by Dr. Nathan Davidson. A fellowship will follow at the church immediately after the service. Honorary pallbearers include Jerry Linton, Hayden Ables, Melvin Maxwell, Charles Jones, Jackie Bryant, the Iuka Police Department, and the Iuka Fire Department. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Londie Kent of Iuka; his daughters, Carra Purvis (Rev. Robert Purvis) of Meridian, MS and Anna Kent Helton (Sean) of Iuka; his son, John R. Kent, II of Iuka; his sister, Cheryl Clark (Richard) of Iuka; his brother, Tony Kent (Charlotte) of Iuka; four grandchildren, Sophia Purvis, Vallie Purvis, Juliana Helton, and Quinlan Helton; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
