October’s Bicentennial Celebration is all about COMING HOME!

FLORENCE – “There’s no place like home,” says Mayor Steve Holt. Homecoming is
the theme for October as the City of Florence celebrates 200 years with events such as
“Reunion at the River” and the University of North Alabama’s Homecoming festivities.
According to Bicentennial Committee Chair Pat Burney, the “Reunion at the River” will take place on Saturday, October 20, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., in McFarland Park. This event is being held in conjunction with the Florence Parks & Recreation Department’s Fall Festival which is full of family activities and will feature the Midnighters from 5p.m. until 8 p.m. As a special treat for those who want to see the AL/TN game, come on down and watch it on the big screen! The event will be topped off with a spectacular Fireworks Show at 8:00 p.m.

Additionally, the University of North Alabama will host its homecoming festivities the weekend of October 11-13, with the UNA homecoming parade taking place Saturday, October 13, at 11 a.m., in downtown Florence.Add First Fridays and the Alabama Renaissance Faire, October 27-28, and October is amonth you’ll definitely want to come home for!

Mayor’s Office, the Florence-Lauderdale Tourism Office in McFarland Park, and the
Shoals Chamber of Commerce.
