Martha Evelyn Measells Sorrells, age73, of Russellville, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at North Alabama Specialty Hospital in Athens, AL.
Mrs. Sorrell was a high school teacher for many years, loving her job teaching History and Civics. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
The visitation will be 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, Tuesday, October 02, 2018 at Spry Memorial Chapel, Russellville, AL. The funeral will follow at 12:00 noon in the chapel of the funeral home with Bro. Richard Parker officiating. Burial will be at Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva A. Carter & Evelyn Cole Carter; sister, Jeanine Carter Roper; and brother, Bill A. Carter.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Wyatt Measells (wife, Maureen); daughter, Kristina Measells Hardy (husband, Chip); granddaughters, Isibeal Measells and Abigail Measells; sisters, Betty Seal, Mary Jane Carter; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer a sincere thanks to Pleasant Bay Ambulance, Keller EMS, the Day Surgery Care Staff at Helen Keller Hospital, the ICU staff of Helen Keller Hospital, and the staff of Alabama Specialty Hospital in Athens for the care extended to our mother. We also want to say a special thanks to Cindy Parrish, our special caregiver for the last 8 years, who has become like family to us always caring for our mother.
