John D. Howard Sr. – Obituary

John D. Howard Sr., 59, of Hazel Green entered into his rest Thursday after a long battle with cancer. John was born in Pensacola, FL, but moved to Hazel Green at the age of 4.

John had been a member of Kelly’s Creek Primitive Baptist Church since 1982, and faithfully served as a deacon since 1990. He owned and operated Howard Mechanical Services since 1991. John was a loving son, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife, Anita B. Howard; children, John Howard, Jr. (Neli), Samuel Howard, and Mary Howard; grandson, Andrew John Howard; mother, Juanita Howard; brothers, Curtis Howard, Jr. (Sue), Bill Howard (Alisa), Phillip Howard, and Steve Howard; sister, Missy O’Connor (Van); mother-in-law, Agnes Britton; brother-in-law, Robert M. Britton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Howard, Sr., brother, Sam Howard, and father-in-law, Robert S. Britton.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 22 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. at Britton Cemetery in Hazel Green with Elder John Howard, Jr. officiating.
