He grew up in the Rock Creek community outside of Tuscumbia.  After war days, he spent the majority of his life on Hawk Pride Mountain near Tuscumbia, where he never grew tired of the beautiful view and peacefulness of the country.

Sam was an electrician and retired from TVA in 1985.

Most important in his life was being a faithful servant and member of the Tuscumbia Church of Christ for over 60 years, where he served in many capacities including deacon, elder, and leader of various committees.  He had a great passion for missionary work and visited many of the worldwide mission sites.
