Callie Alfreda Hawkins Hanlon, 89, died Thursday September 20, 2018 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born in Portageville, Missouri to Clarence Ambrose and Clara Hawkins on October 27, 1928. On July 7, 1956, she married Keith Hanlon at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a telephone operator most of her working life at BellSouth and Malone and Hyde, she also spent some time in the daycare industry at KinderCare in Tupelo. She enjoyed spending time drawing and at the age of 70, taught herself to play the piano. She was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan and enjoyed traveling to St. Louis to catch a game occasionally. She loved spending time with family, dogs and chatting to anyone. Before her failing health, she was a faithful member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include three children, Callie Jones and her husband, Dean of Germantown, Tennessee, Dawn Steinman and her husband Richard of Tupelo and Shaun Hanlon and his wife Liz of Gulf Shores, Alabama; eight grandchildren, Carly Yarber and her husband Jason of Booneville, Jessica Hanlon of Holmen, Wisconsin, Christopher Jones and his wife Jessica of Memphis, Tennessee, Kevin Steinman and his wife Rebecca of Birmingham, Alabama, Meagan Seward and her husband, Jordan of Arlington, Tennessee, Katherine Pacheco and her husband Daniel of Starkville, Brandon Jones of Cleveland, Tennessee, Jasmine Steinman of Tupelo; three great-grandchildren, Maggie Ray Yarber, Emily Kate Yarber and Amelia Seward; one sister Ruth Ann Elkins and her husband J. E. of Gulf Shores, Alabama; one brother James Hawkins and his wife Carolyn of Georgia; nephew Harold Dial of Portageville, Missouri; brother-in-law Glenn Sisson of Fairmont, Arkansas and sister-in-law Eula Hawkins of Staunton Illinois.

Proceed in death by her husband Keith Hanlon; parents, Clarence and Clara Hawkins; three sisters, Regina Sisson, Frances McDaniel and Edith Dial and one brother Merlin Hawkins.

Services will be 12 p.m. Saturday September 22, 2018 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. Private family graveside services will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.

Pallbearers will be Shaun Hanlon, Jason Yarber, Daniel Pacheco, Scott Elkins, Dean Jones and Ricky Steinman.

Memorials may be made to Traceway’s Meals on Wheels Ministries, 2800 W. Main Street, Tupelo, MS 38801.
