W.T. Sumerel – Obituary

W.T. Sumerel, 84, of Belgreen, passed away September 18, 2018 at the Cottage of the Shoals in Tuscumbia, Alabama. A native of Franklin County, Alabama and a lifetime resident, he was a member of Belgreen Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge 428 Belgreen, and was very active in community service. A retiree from Ford Motor Company, he was a machinist as well as a cattle farmer. He also served his country in the U.S. Army.
Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home chapel with Andy Cansler officiating. Burial will be in Belgreen Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Hester, Jim Borum, James Guinn, Jason Hill, Don Weiler, Johnny Barber, and Jack Hargett. Honorary bearers will be Sammy Smith, Robin Grissom and the Belgreen Masonic Lodge #428.
Surviving Mr. Sumerel are nephews: Leamon Sumerel, Don Richardson, and Randy Richardson; nieces: Sandra Weiler, Shirley Norris, Debbie Sevier, Connie Pace, Susan Denton, Pam Bray, and Becki Rink. Several great nieces, nephews, and great great nieces and nephews also survive him.
Preceding him in death were his parents: Thomas Jefferson and Arrie Alton McNatt Sumerel; brothers: James, Ray, and Mitchell Sumerel; and sisters: Inez Sumerel and Mary Alton Sumerel Richardson.
Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, will be directing.
