William “Bird” Hobbs – Obituary

William “Bird” Hobbs, 60, of Hillsboro passed away Monday, September 17, 2018 at his home. Visitation will be from 12 til 2 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Lawrence Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Festus Grissom, Tim Sawyer and Billy Bradford officiating. Burial will be in Elkton Cemetery, Prospect, Tennessee.

An avid sports fan, Bird was a member of New Center Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Sherry Parker Hobbs; children, William Jonas Hobbs (Kesha), Hope Owens (Wendell), and Michael Hobbs; grandchildren, Allie Owens and Jacob Owens; brothers, Billy Hobbs (Lassie) and Thomas Hobbs; sisters, Betty Peoples, Sandra Bradford (Billy), and Martha Johnson (Buddy); and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Luvinia Sawyer Hobbs; and grandparents, Travis and Mattie Sawyer and William and Florence Hobbs.

Pallbearers will be Samuel Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Greg White, Chris Corum, Buddy Johnson and Felton Filyaw.

The family extends special thanks to Decatur Morgan Home Health and Greg’s Ambulance Service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lawrence Funeral Home to help the family.
