Charles Leo Comer – Obituary

Charles Leo Comer, 92, died Friday, September 14, 2018, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis. He was born December 15, 1925, in Itawamba County to Arthur Lee and Cera Lavell Cooley Comer. He worked in the automobile business and owned Comer Chevrolet in Earle, Arkansas, for many years. He and his late wife were members of First United Methodist Church in Memphis. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a 50 year member of Bartlett Masonic Lodge No. 211.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, September 17, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with the Rev. Andy Rambo officiating. His son, Charles Kenneth Comer, will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include three children, Kay Gibson (George) and Carol Comer, both of Collierville, Tenn., and Charles Kenneth Comer (Bee) of Burke, Virginia; five grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Willena Benefield of Fulton.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Mary Jo Comer; his parents, Arthur and Cera Comer; and his eight siblings, Charlice Nanney, Vonnie Tims, Robbie Gurley, Bernice Wood, Etoyle Grissom, Imogene Davis, Theo Comer, and Broxie Stuckey.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Comer, Christopher Comer, D.J. Jenkins, Alex Bare, Joseph Bare, and George Gibson.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
