James Howard Rhodes – Obituary

James Howard Rhodes, 84, of Florence passed away on September 13, 2018 at his residence. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”  He was a member of Underwood Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States National Guard.  He retired from Ford Motor Company after 28 years of service and Daimler Chrysler Corporation after 18 years of service as a Tool and Die Maker. He was also Vice President of the UAW at Chrysler in Huntsville.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Rodney Clingan officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

He was preceded in death by his father, Denver Rhodes and mother, Louise Haddock Rhodes.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61½ years, Nina Cannon Rhodes; son, Wendell Rhodes; daughters, Rhonda Danley, Dana Frisbie (Jim) all of Florence, and Amy Clingan (Rodney) of Jacksonville, Alabama; brothers, Glenn Rhodes (Mattie) of Florence and Michael Rhodes (Barbara) of Muscle Shoals; sisters, Joyce Mitchell, Doris Holmes (Roger), Wanda Palmer (Clarence) and Patsy Mays (James) all of Florence; grandchildren, Rachel Clark Bailey (Shane), Christopher Frisbie  all of Florence, Ryan Frisbie of Nashville, Tennessee, Sarah Frisbie Steele (Doug) of Birmingham, AL, Andrew Clingan and Ashley Clingan both of Jacksonville, AL, and Karah Rhodes of Florence, AL; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Bailey and Isabella Bailey both of Florence.

Serving as pallbearers will be Christopher Frisbie, Ryan Frisbie, Andrew Clingan, Shane Bailey, Doug Steele, Dwayne Rhodes, Dustin Rhodes, Brad Phillips, and Andy Eddins.
