FLORENCE-Historian Wayne Flynt will discuss “The Richness of Alabama Culture and Harper Lee” on Tuesday, October 2 at 6:00 p.m. at Florence-Lauderdale Public Library. The presentation will feature two of Flynt’s latest books, Alabama: The History of a Deep South State, Bicentennial Edition
and Mockingbird Songs: My Friendship with Harper Lee
. Both books will be available for purchase and signing. Flynt is a distinguished university professor emeritus at Auburn University and has published fourteen books. “We are honored to have such an accomplished author and scholar visit FLPL,” said Interim Library Director Abby Carpenter. “It’s an exciting opportunity for people in the Shoals to meet and learn from a highly respected historian, especially one who can share stories about our state’s most beloved author, Harper Lee.”

The free event is co-sponsored by the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities, with funding from the Kelly Mosley Endowment for Draughon Seminars in State & Local History. The Florence-Lauderdale Public Library is located at 350 N Wood Avenue.
