Wilma  was born September 30, 1925 to James and Elizabeth Hampton in Winston County, Alabama. Wilma had lived in Huntsville, Alabama since the 1960’s even though she had previously lived in numerous states including Texas, Kansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia and Michigan.

Wilma worked at Chrysler Corp in Huntsville, AL for almost 30 years. She received numerous awards and promotions for her dedicated service. She maintained a bond with a group of co-workers until her death. After retirement from Chrysler, she worked at a couple of other places until her 70’s. Wilma enjoyed traveling all over — she was always “ready to go”.  She was an avid gardener, loved ballroom dancing, sewing, and crocheting; and as a family friend stated, “she could fix anything that was broken”.

Wilma took great pride in her two children – she once stated they were her biggest accomplishment. She was always, always a cheerleader for them -told them they could do anything and encouraged them in all their endeavors.

Wilma was a faithful member of Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville, Al for several decades.

Wilma is survived by two children, Harris Ryan (Jerri) of Huntsville, AL and Linda Ryan of Huntsville, AL; one brother, Arthur Hampton of Lancaster, California; a special sister-in-law, Peggy Hampton of Indiana; two grandchildren: Stacy Ryan (Rob) of Germantown, Maryland, and Paul Ryan of Huntsville, Alabama and many nieces and nephews. A host of other relatives and friends who knew her and loved her also join in mourning her loss. A special note of gratitude to Diane Simmons, a family friend, for all her love and support over the past several years and to the management and staff of Country Cottage (assisted living) for their kind, compassionate care of Wilma for the last years of her life.
