Maple Smith – Obituary

Maple Smith was born April 2, 1924 in Killen Alabama to the late Nolan and Vella Smith.

He departed this life on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. Maple was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from Tennessee Valley Authority after 26 years of service.

He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great- grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted friend and companion, Martha Magee; a loving son, Nolan Sherard Smith; two step-sons, Willie Proby and Benjamin Gibson; two loving daughters, Shalanda White and Shanosha Smith; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation with the family will be today, September 9, 2018, from 6-7 p.m. at Thompson and Son Funeral Home, Florence, Alabama.Funeral service for Mr. Smith will be 1 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2018 at First Missionary Baptist Church, Sheffield, Alabama with Reverend Jeffrey Braxton officiating and Reverend Rufus Slack, Eulogist. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery, Elgin, Alabama. The body will be placed in the church at noon.

The public viewing will be today from 1-8 p.m.
