Hollis Hayward Crowden – Obituary

Hollis Hayward Crowden, age 90, fell asleep in death Wednesday, September 5, 2018. He was born June 15, 1928 to Wayne and Edna Lowery Crowden in Lawrence County, Alabama. He was a 1947 graduate of Colbert County and retired Millwright from Reynolds. He was a Mason.

Visitation was Friday 12-2 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Colbert Memorial Gardens. He was an avid lover of bluegrass music. His favorite pastime was sitting around playing and picking his fiddle or mandolin with his numerous music buddies.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Edna Crowden; and wife, Dorothy “Dot” Crowden.

Survivors include his daughter, Phyllis Melton (Randall); grandchildren, Randy, Eric, Ashley and Joseph Melton; stepdaughter, Doris Highland (Jimmy); numerous extended family and special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Peters, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Nicholson, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Barnes, and Mr. and Mrs. James Rich.
