Robert Dallas Clapsadle III, 42, died suddenly August 30 in Huntsville, AL, slipping his earthly bonds as his free spirit became one with the infinity of the universe.  He was a passionate and sensitive person with an incredible talent for art and music. He loved classical music, great literature and was an avid reader.

He was born to Dr. Raymond Allen and Christina Susan Eye Clapsadle October 18, 1975 at Long Beach Naval Hospital, Long Beach, California.  Within his first year, his father received orders from the Marine Corps to Beaufort, SC and after three years there, a move to Memphis, TN. He graduated from Houston High School in 1993 with honors and attended the University of Memphis on a Presidential Scholarship and graduated with a B.S. degree in Physics. His professors remember his love of Physics, incredible talent in Math, Computers and Optical Physics research as well as his unique and creative sense of humor.

The love and joy of his life were his two children, Harrison Dallas and Emily Marian.  He cherished his trips with his children to Disney World and the resort at Gulf Coast Beach. He was so proud of Harrison’s swimming awards and Emily’s art work and dance.

He worked for several Physics Research Companies in Huntsville as well as a time in Bay St. Louis at Stennis Air Force Base before returning to Huntsville and finally working for General Atomics as their researcher in Optical Physics.  He was especially proud of his top secret clearance that enabled him to work for defense contractors and design incredible applications often as the lead on the projects.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert Dallas and Evelyn Jane Tice Clapsadle, his beloved Mamaw Mary Lee Harper Eye, and his paternal uncle Jeffrey Clapsadle.  He is survived by his beloved children, Harrison and Emily; his parents; his paternal grandfather, Herbert E. Eye; and his maternal uncle, Charles Eye and wife Patricia; along with a host of extended family and friends.

Services will be private with burial in the Family Cemetery in West Virginia on the farm of his grand, great-grand and great-great-grandparents, the farm he loved so much with some of his best childhood memories.  As a memorial, friends and families are asked to gather and celebrate his life with their happiest stories and memories of Robert.
