Mr. Edward "Ed" W. MasseyMr. Edward “Ed” W. Massey, age 85, of the Mobbs School Road Community of Arab, passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Massey was born on June 7, 1933 in Perry County to James Moore Massey & Dora Hartley Massey. Mr. Massey was married to Mrs. Mary Mitchell Massey for 66 years. He was employed as a Senior Engineer at IBM. He enjoys gardening, farming, BBQ’s, woodwork building and spending time outdoors. He served on several committees within Union Chapel United Methodist Church, the most beloved being Chairman of the New Sanctuary Committee.
Mr. Massey was a member of Union Chapel United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Massey; daughter, Janice Morrow & husband Ricky of Arab; sons, Dan Massey & wife Pat of Austin, TX, Randy Massey of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Ricky E. Morrow & wife Rachael of Guntersville, Chris Morrow & wife Ellen of Arab, Erica Massey of Dallas, TX; great grandchildren, Dylan Morrow & Raylee Morrow of Guntersville, Ella Kate Morrow & Hunter Morrow of Arab; special nieces, Kay Jones & Debbie McKinney. Preceded in death by his parents, James Moore Massey & Dora Hartley Massey; brothers, Thomas A. Massey & John C. Massey.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Union Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. David Norton & Rev. Doug Martin, officiating. Burial will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Ricky D. Morrow, Ricky E. Morrow, Chris Morrow, Danny Massey, Erica Massey & Dylan Morrow. Honorary Pallbearers will include Thomas Yeager & Bobby Hunkeapillar.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Union Chapel United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers donations may be contributed to the Union Chapel United Methodist Building Fund.
