Wilma Allen Dawson – Obituary

Wilma Allen Dawson, age 97, formerly of Columbia, Tennessee passed away on September 5, 2018 in Nashville, at her son’s residence.

Wilma was born on April 8, 1921 in Maury County, Tennessee to the late Ben and Annie Belle Allen. She married her beloved, late husband William Dawson in 1939. She was a loving woman; she loved her friends, family and especially her Lord. She was a prayer warrior, praying for her friends and loved ones. She always wanted to help people and always put others first. She truly had a servant’s heart.

Wilma is survived by her children, Gay (George) Rogowitz, Terry Dawson and Carol Ann (Roy) Cockrell; grandchildren, Layne (Desiree) Dawson and Rachel Hall; great grandchildren, Sarah Copeland and Aidan Mullikin as well as numerous nieces and nephews and special friend and sister in law, Jane Dawson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Annie Belle Allen; husband, William Dawson and brothers, Jack Allen, Howard Allen and Billy Allen.

The Family will visit with friends on Monday, September 10, 2018 from Noon until 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. A Funeral Service will follow visitation at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are members of Wilma’s family and her friends. Honorary pallbearers are Karen Lovell, Teresa Warf, Edward and Joy Turner, Helen King, Laura Gilliam and the late Monty Gilliam.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to her son Terry for his loving care during her years of illness. A special thank you to all of the wonderful nurses, technicians, clergy of Amedisys Hospice who provided professional, loving and encouraging care to our mother and to us.
