Margaret “Nana” Ellen Cope – Obituary

Margaret “Nana” Ellen Cope, age 88, of Lewisburg, Tennessee passed away on September 3, 2018 at Marshall Medical Center in Lewisburg, Tennessee.

Margaret was born on March 5, 1930 in Columbia, Tennessee to the late Charles and Bertie Bibb. She was a devoted Christian woman. She enjoyed reading her Bible daily and reading it through yearly. Her favorite remedy to life’s trials was “We’ll just have to pray about it.” She had a wonderful sense of humor, and a large part of the last several years of Margaret’s life was the unbridled joy that was brought to her through frequent visits and overnight stays from the McDaniel kids, “the greats”. Margaret loved her “Honey”, her beloved late husband, Billie Cope. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Billie (Arnold) Hammond; son, Tim (Sheila) Cope; brother, Edward (Nancy) Bibb; sister, Lena (Eugene) Goodwin; grandchildren, Tiffany (P.J.) McDaniel, Blake Hammond, Joshua (Jennifer) Hammond and great grandchildren, Jamie McDaniel, Jake McDaniel, Maggie McDaniel, Alex McDaniel, Kinsley Johnson, Maddox Hammond, Anna Claire Hammond, Mali Hammond and one great great granddaughter, Adalee River. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bertie Bibb; husband, Billie Cope; sisters, Frances Ballard and Orel Uptain and brother, Bill Bibb.

Margaret’s family will visit with friends on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Lawrence Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are Randy Goodwin, Wesley Uptain, Bill Griggs, Melvin Hindman, John Chadwell and Woodrow Dotson.

Honorary pallbearers are past and current members of the Church of God of Prophecy in Columbia, TN, Dr. Charles Ball, Dr. Doug Kennedy and Dr. James Richardson.
