Danny Fortner – Obituary

Danny Fortner was born in Fulton, Kentucky, but spent the first 13 years of his life in Murray, Kentucky. In 1963, he moved to Huntsville, Alabama, where he graduated from S. R. Butler High School in 1966.

He attended Auburn University. He loved Auburn football and especially tailgating with longtime friends. He also served in the National Guard until 1975. He worked for the City of Huntsville for 31 years, first in the Parks and Recreation Department and then in Human Resources. He was an active member of Huntsville First United Methodist Church.

Danny leaves behind his wife of 46 years, Lynne Turner Fortner; sister, Kathryn Church; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Thursday, September 6 in the Wesley Worship Center of First United Methodist Church, with a memorial service immediately following. A private burial is planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Huntsville First United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
