Dwight King – Obituary

Dwight King was the fourth of five children born to the late Walter and Marie King. He was born on April 3, 1959, in Colbert County, Ala. He departed this life on Oct. 9, 2012, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital, Florence, Ala.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donell King.

Mr. King confessed Christ at an early age.

He was educated in the Florence City School System where he graduated from Bradshaw High School. He was employed by Wilson Food Center in Florence, Ala. for over 30 years

He leaves to cherish his memory one sister, Marlene (Ben) Garth, Decatur, Ala.; two brothers, Walter (Sharron) King and Bryan (Carla) King, both of Florence, Ala.; sister-in-law, Dorothy King; two nieces, Brittney King and Ebone King; four nephews, Alexis Morris, DeMond (Amber) Garth, Brandon (Lynn) Garth and Montre Lewis; aunts, Arthurine King Stevens, Emma (William) Finley, Betty Fort, Dorothy (James) Malone and Joyce (Willie) Hodges; uncles, Joe (Concettia) Fort and Willie Fort; devoted cousin, Tony Fort. He also leaves to cherish his memory devoted friends, Michael Carter, Emily Peters, A.J. Jackson, Russell Lyons, Janice Beckwith, Louise Wright, James Ingram; and a host of other relatives and friends who loved and will greatly miss him.

Although our hearts are filled with sorrow during this sad hour, you have helped to lift many of our burdens, and for this we are grateful. Your many telephone calls, visits, cards and other expressions or kindness shall never be forgotten. We give thanks to God for each of you. May God bless and keep you is our prayer.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Wilson who treated Dwight more like a son than an employee. We also gratefully acknowledge the assistance rendered by Attorney Michael Cartee, Hospice of the Shoals and the entire third floor staff of ECM Hospital.

Public viewing is Friday 1-8 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Funeral Home, Muscle Shoals. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at Mt. Olievia Missionary Baptist Church, Muscle Shoals.
