Everett Winfield Cody – Obituary

Everett Winfield Cody, 87, died Sunday, September 2, 2018, at Rosewood Assisted Living in Belden. He was born June 1, 1931, in the Splunge community of Itawamba County, to Winnie Era and Selena Pierce Cody. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired from American Motors as a security guard. After retirement, he moved to Tremont where he worked as a police officer, Itawamba County deputy, and a security guard at the welcome center. He also drove a school bus for the Itawamba County School District. He was a Methodist in belief and he enjoyed traveling and was an avid conversationalist.

Services will be at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday, September 5, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Ray Stevens officiating. Burial will be in the Liberty Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Granger (Jack) of Red Bay, Cheryl Davis (Greg) of Tremont, and Sheila Luna of Fulton; one son, Jack W. Cody (Wendy) of Madison, WI; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Joyce Cody; five brothers, Balis, Cleavis, Hubert, Purvis, and Cecil; six sisters, Etma, Era, Verna, Marcelle, Sarah Ruth, and Zettie; a son; and his parents.

Visitation will be from 5:00 -8:00 p. m. Tuesday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home.
