Florence-Big Brothers Big Sisters serves  children between the ages of 5 and 15 who are in need of an additional adult role model relationship. These  children are matched with a suitable volunteer who spends time with them to promote self-worth, and encourage them to reach their full potential in school, at home and in the community. We have served thousands of children in our 3 county area since 1987. But we always need more adult male volunteers to serve as role models for the boys in our programs.

Start Something “Reel” Bass Tournament is being held to benefit The Big Brothers Big Sisters programs in Colbert, Franklin and Lauderdale Counties.  The event date is Saturday, November 3, 2012, starting at safe daylight until 2 pm.  The entry fee is $100.00 per boat and will be held at Riverfront Park in Sheffield.  There will be a first prize of $2,000.00, second prize of $750.00, and a third prize of $500.00(all guaranteed)  There will also be door prizes.  For more information or to enter the tournament call Tournament Director, Chuck Harville at 256.320.3805 or by email harvillechuck@firestonebp.com.

In our own lives, each of us was touched by someone-other than our parents-who introduced us to new worlds, and brought a little magic into our lives. As a Big Brother or Big Sister, you can do that too: celebrate the joy of everyday moments, and bring magic into a child’s life- moments where you get back as much as you give, and know you enrich a life just by being there. Big Brothers Big Sisters it’s about Little Moments, Big Magic.  To volunteer  visit www.bbsa.org.
